Graceful Gowns Fit for Blushing Summer Brides
Whether you’re headed to the beach for a destination affair or saying “I do” among backyard magnolias, summer brides have the beauty of vacation vibes and full blooms in their favor. But, as much as we love that Southern sunshine, boy does it make for a sweltering summer wedding ceremony.
Brides looking for the perfect summer wedding dress should definitely keep the Southern heat in mind, but never settle for anything less than their dream dress. Avoid baking in the heat on your Big Day by considering dresses with effortless-feeling fabrics and shapes that breathe. You’ll also want to keep in mind how many layers of material are actually hiding in that striking train or tempting ball gown. With too much material tucked away underneath that skirt, you’ll be sweating like a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs before you’ve even walked down the aisle. Trust us.
Luckily, flowy wedding dress designs and silhouettes that won’t make you sweat are in this season. From lightweight gowns and floral fabrics to illusion necklines and back-baring beauties, we’ve pulled together some of our favorite summer wedding dresses that are sure to wow while you beat the heat. Once you’ve found the one, pull it all together with details that add interest, not weight, for a wedding ensemble that’s airy and light.

A 70-Year-Old Love Story Was Celebrated With A 166-Year-Old Wedding Dress
This is one of the sweetest love stories we've ever heard – not to mention a great example of why we love to pass down heirlooms through generations. As reported by our friends at USA Today, when Priscilla married Bill in 1948, she wore a 97-year-old wedding dress. It was her great-great-great-grandmother's wedding dress. This year, the couple celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
