30 Containers for Covered Porches That Will Thrive in the Shade

30 Containers for Covered Porches That Will Thrive in the Shade

Some containers have all the sun. These shady planters, though, are having plenty of fun sans sun. We’ve gathered all of our favorite shade-loving containers to inspire your planting this season. If you have a shady yard or want to perk up a shaded spot in your home, at your front door, on your porch, or around your patio, put together a pretty shade-loving container that’s also easy to care for. Plants like caladiums and creeping Jenny will thrive in the shade, and they’ll also add great color and movement to your planters. If you’re looking for the best plants for the shade and great flowers that thrive in shade, also reach for impatiens, coleus, sweet potato vines, mazus, vincas, torenias, violas, petunias, pansies, hellebores (Lenten roses), hostas, astilbes, and trilliums. They look great and will thrive in full to partial shade. Shade-loving flowers aren’t too hard to find. Ask around at your local garden store, and you’ll be able to locate the ingredients and put together any one of these shade-tolerant container ideas. Also, in regards to your container, don’t forget to think vertical. We love pots and planters, but a hanging basket is another great option, as is an elevated planter, which will make a statement and take advantage of any vertical space.

Pair softer pastels with cheerful accent colors to create a feminine yet distinctive centerpiece. Flowers such as peonies, roses, and sweetpea are go-to varieties when creating an arrangement that’s truly centerpiece worthy. Place your bold florals of differing heights to create a stunning statement piece that will surely impress guests.

We never shy away from all pink when it comes to bridal showers. Mixing different flower varieties in the same pink hue will give your centerpieces texture while staying within a consistent (and gorgeous!) theme.

If the bridal shower is on the smaller side, feel free to use your table arrangements as party favors for your guests. This is a sweet and intimate way to give your bride and her guests a take-away from such a memorable event.

Don't Be Matchy-Matchy

Mix and match patterns and colors to spice up a fun and festive bridal shower. Elevate the bridal shower centerpieces and tablescape by incorporating a variety of colors and patterns throughout. Neutral linens will pair well with colorful florals such as ranunculus and tulips. Patterned china adds a whimsical and romantic touch to your tablescape.

Do Think White

White, the classic wedding dress color, can also take center stage for a bridal shower soiree. White monochromatic tablescapes are classy and timeless. Pair a cascading white orchid centerpiece with complementary table linens and flatware for a traditional and elegant shower.

Channel the look of a table runner by using florals to create an amazing statement focal point. Cluster arrangements, bud vases, and a variety of votives in the center of a lengthy table to achieve this on-trend look. Fresh and fun elements are key to a spring bridal shower.
