Laura Holland and Craig Kemper first met as undergraduates while studying at The University of Virginia, but it took more than 10 years, a breakup and a few relocations, before the couple finally exchanged vows. Before Craig proposed, the couple was dating long distance, with five hours between them. Laura worked in D.C. and Craig worked in southwest Virginia. Frequently, they would meet halfway for the weekend, and one time in particular, Craig arranged for a trip to CrossKeys Vineyard.
"I arrived (about an hour late!) and then we proceeded on a walk around the vineyard," the bride says. "The walk was fairly short given that it was incredibly windy but we managed our way to the lawn of the main building, and Craig got down on one knee. After the proposal, I heard someone shouting my name and looked up on the balcony to find my parents, Craig’s parents, and my sister and brother-in-law. It was incredibly special to have everyone there."
The wedding ceremony was held at Christ Episcopal Church in Charlottesville, Virginia, with the cocktail hour and reception—designed by Shindig Weddings—following at Farmington Country Club. Photographer Jen Fariello spent the day documenting the couple's wedding festivities. For more photos and information, visit our gallery.
