This Birmingham Wedding is Brimming with Bridal Blues
The Bride and Groom
After a chance meeting at the end of 2015, Robert and Anna hit it off. Before long, Robert was down on one knee, stunning his soon-to-be bride with a romantic sunset proposal before whisking her away to dinner at the restaurant where they had their first date, Birmingham’s Chez FonFon. The biggest surprise, though, came after Anna said, “yes.” The waiter brought her a blank envelope revealing the secret trip Robert had planned – a trip to Playa del Carmen leaving the very next day!
The Groom’s First Love…Golf
Robert, a huge golf aficionado, grew up learning the game at the Country Club of Birmingham. So, the well-groomed grounds and stunning ballroom space at the groom’s home course was easily the perfect place for their Big Day.
The couple welcomed guests with a cleanly designed invitation decorated in romantic calligraphy that’ll never go out of style.
Gems Passed Down Through Generations
Not only was Anna’s engagement ring designed around one of Robert’s grandmother’s diamonds, but she was also gifted a gem from her own side of the family. Anna’s grandmother’s aunt, who raised Anna’s grandmother as her own, passed down the diamond from her engagement ring with love. Anna’s parents placed the diamond in a beautiful antique setting from a jeweler in St. Simons, Georgia, where Anna’s grandmother lives. On her wedding day, Anna incorporated the ring into her ensemble as her “something old” in her honor.
An embroidered handkerchief for happy tears hinted at blue accents to come throughout the day.
A Timeless Fit and Flare
The bride beamed in traditional fit and flare gown bordered by a family heirloom veil.
Bridal White Bouquet with a Hint of Blush
Anna carried a classic ivory and blush collection of peonies, garden roses, and ranunculus down the aisle.
Beauties in Blue
Ten ladies in light blue gowns brought a sweet springtime air to the May affair.
An Army of Gents in White
Roberts entourage walked down the aisle in style wearing classic white dinner jackets.
A Stately Church Ceremony
The two said “I do” surrounded by family and friends at Canterbury United Methodist Church in Birmingham.
Sweet Southern Reception Space
At the reception, guests were greeted by airy florals and light lucite touches that let the Southern architecture of the bright ballroom shine.
A Touch of Family Chinoiserie
Blue and white chinoiserie from the bride’s family collection dotted reception tables to add a preppy and feminine flare to the fete.
An Eye-Catching Arrangement
A wow-worthy floral arrangement beckoned guests to the bar, filling the room with ivory, blush, coral, and pink florals.
Cascading Pink Peonies
The couple cut a beautiful ivory buttercream cake decorated with colorful, blush peonies and a pop of pink berries.
Mississippi Muds with Monogrammed Accents
Guests dined on Southern staples, including a late night treat of Mississippi muds passed around the dance floor.
All Smiles at the End of the Night
After dancing the night away, the newlyweds bid their Big Day adieu from the back of a classic convertible surrounded by family and friends.
Cheers to the vendor team that brought Anna and Robert's dream day to life:
