Why not take a short trip light-years away to the Alpha-Centauri solar system?
We've heard rumors about Walt Disney World's new Pandora – but nothing can compare to seeing the beautiful landscape. This 12-acre expansion and Avatar paradise in Animal Kingdom has floating mountains, stunning flora and fauna, and some crazy coloful food.
Guests who visit Pandora have a wealth of Na'vi-inspired opportunities. There's a family-friendly expedition, the Na'vi River Journey, that takes guests through the sacred bioluminescent rainforest on a mysterious river. Visitors can take flight on the back of a wing-flapping banshee in the immersive new adventure, Avatar Flight of Passage.
This addition to Animal Kingdom is the largest in the park's history, and celebrates the value of nature and adventure through the Na'vi culture based on James Cameron's record-breaking Avatar film. Disney's new land brings guests to the lush world of Pandora after the human conflict with the Na’vi has ended, as is played out in the film. Although the dramatic daytime beauty is stunning – see the floating mountains in the clip above – the bioluminescent flora bring a magical nighttime experience.
“We are taking our guests on a journey to this world in an experience that’s as realistic and immersive as possible,” says Joe Rohde, Walt Disney Imagineering portfolio creative executive. “In the movie, the world of Pandora is a setting for the action and characters whose story we follow. Here, guests are the primary characters immersed in an extremely vivid, authentic experience.”
The details of Pandora are what sets the land apart. From large creatures to microscopic ones – everything's coming to life. “Animals will appear out of the underbrush – big Pandoran animals will appear at the edge of the forest, and you’ll hear the very complicated calls they issue back and forth.”
And, who can forget about the food? Colorful, bioluminescent cocktails, Na'vi-inspired food made with wholesome grains, fresh vegetables, and hearty proteins – spots like Satu’li Canteen provide a truly immersive experience into Pandora's culinary culture. They've even got private label draft beers, like Avatar Private Label Amber Ale and Avatar Private Label Green Ale.
Who's up for a road trip to a new land?
