Southern mamas know their stuff – that's a given. We went on the red carpet to talk to some of our favorite Southern celebrities about the best lessons their moms ever taught them. From "Don't scratch that" to "Don't judge a book by its cover", our matriarchs know what they're talking about.
What's the best advice your momma ever gave you? Oh well, just to be myself and treat everybody as they would treat, you know, you wanna be treated, so I think that goes a long way too. Okay, since you're southern boys, what is the best advice that your momma ever gave you? Don't lie. Don't scratch that. Don't pick at that, that's what she said. Yeah don't pick at that. Don't judge a book by its cover. Take care of number one first. Don't ever do anything halfway. If you're gonna do something, do it right the first time so you don't have to come back and do it again. Mama gave me a lot of advice, but most of it was chasing me around with a switch, telling me what not to do after the fact. Don't do nothing stupid. I was in Nashville living in Nashville and was living with a buddy of mine and he, he decide to move back to Georgia. There was about a two week period there where I got super home sick. Then I called and I said I'm thinking about moving back home and she said, baby, ain't nothing down here for you. You need to stay up there, keep doing what you doing. It'll pay off. Never give up. I mean you know, you have to be, honestly I tell people I had to be pretty dumb to think I could pull off singing country music for a living but mama's been my biggest fan since day one, so thank you mama.
