Take in Fall Color from the Air at These Hot Air Balloon Festivals
For the best vantages, take to the skies. That's the philosophy of the South's favorite hot air balloon festivals, which invite altitude aficionados to marvel at balloon launches and breezy flights while enjoying locally made snacks and live music. Some of the festivals also include marathons and fun runs. Some are competitive races in the sky, and others offer tethered rides for those who'd rather not drift. The rides are where you'll get the best view of the South's changing foliage and varied landscapes. Be sure to read the websites carefully: Some of the festivals may experience COVID-19 closures and schedule changes. Most of these hot air balloon festivals happen in the fall, but keep an eye out because we've included a few summertime festivals too (just in case your favorite foliage is the lush green kind).
