Pack Your Bags! We're Heading to Ponte Vedra
It's time to fly south for the winter.
This is the time of year when I get the premature urge to swap out my closet of plaids, quilted jackets, and boots for a decidedly colorful wardrobe complete with oversized prints and sling-back wedges that show off my Cajun-Shrimp pedicure. The switchover from chunky sweaters to chambray is on average between six weeks to a full two months early, which ultimately results in me unconvincingly assuring concerned parties that I'm in fact not cold at all, as I stand shivering with slightly blue lips.
The easiest fix might be to check the forecast and dress appropriately until that gopher officially tells us spring has sprung (at least we already know it's an early one this year), but I have a better idea: It's time to pack up the resort-wear and head to the laid-back coastal town of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Last summer, my husband and I took a weekend trip down to the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, a AAA Five Diamond Award winning resort that's been holding court on the north Florida coast since 1928. We lounged on the beach, ate seafood in its natural habitat, and enjoyed a summer afternoon squall from the comfort of our balcony overlooking the Atlantic. I even indulged in a massage at The Spa—which resulted in me texting just about every female in my phonebook on the absolute necessity of this indulgence (belated apologies, friends).
Though rates starting at $259 securely categorizes this as a splurge getaway, I can assure you, a few nights at this gem will be just enough to get you through to those sunny and 75 days that will soon be heading our way. pontevedra.com
