Vacationing with your pet is easy these days with hotels, restaurants, bakeries, bars, and parks all jumping in to accommodate our four-legged family members. Vacationers from all over the world head to Florida each summer and why not? It's surrounded on three sides by turquoise blue water with peaceful winding rivers and natural fresh-water springs and lakes in-between. Not to mention the year-round Florida sunshine. With 1,200 miles of coastline, Florida has some of the best beaches in the world and several of them cater just to dogs. We've found some great dog parks where you'll find amenities such as water fountains, beaches, doggie shower stations, acres of grassy play areas, free doggie bags, nature trails, shady picnic spaces with tables, exercise and agility training areas, doggie pools, tennis balls, and nearby dog friendly restaurants and bars. Each park has different amenities but we're sure your pooch will be tickled pink with any of our choices. Upon arrival check the park's policies and hours of operation. Some have free parking and entrance while others may charge a nominal fee. Before letting your dog off-leash, determine which areas are considered off-leash and check to see if it is fenced. Dogs are required to be current on all vaccinations with proof. For your pet's sake, always be aware of your dog's playmates—you want him to have a fun but safe experience. You'll find a common thread in any negative dog park comments which all have to do with the owners…pick up after your dog and police their behavior toward other dogs in order to make the experience a good one for everybody. Many of these dog parks offer something for the whole family so enjoy your summer vacation with your pet this year.
