What takes 36 pounds of honey, 96 pounds of bread flour, and 100 pounds of icing? Disney's Beach Club Resort's 18th annual holiday gingerbread carousel, of course.
The massive, spinning carousel is a handcrafted edible wonder, pulled off by chefs Thomas Huebner, Jennifer Ladisky, and Cindy Roman. The impressive work of art enjoys a "Lilo and Stich" theme this year, complete with holiday characters that are carefully painted by hand. If you can take your eyes off of the gingerbread snowmen and snowflakes, see if you can spy some of the sculpture's 18 "hidden Mickeys," tipping their ears to the tradition's 18th anniversary.
Getting hungry staring at the 50 pounds of dark chocolate? Thankfully, there are also sweets for sale. The peppermint bark and stollen bread surely does entice, but we'll be doubling up on the gingerbread cupcakes with cream cheese icing and Mickey sugar cookies with holiday designs.
