As summer approaches, our minds shift to bringing our meals outside. Sometimes that means breakfast on the porch with a newspaper. Sometimes, that means lunch at the picnic tables in our local park with co-workers or friends. Sometimes, that means Chick-fil-A on the beach with a frisbee and box of waffle fries.

Yes, you read that right. Little did we know but there are actually several Chick-fil-A locations across the country that are located a quick drive or short walk from the beach. In a recent article on Chick-fil-A's blog, The Chicken Wire, the restaurant chain shared some of its eateries closest to the beach. Here are your Southern options:

Beach: Ocean City Beach in Ocean City, Maryland
Closest restaurant: Chick-fil-A West Ocean City (1.1 miles away)

"Ocean City consistently shows up on the lists of America’s top beaches, and it’s no wonder. Recreation options include swimming, surfing, cruising the boardwalk and visiting a theme park," writes Coleman Wood for Chick-fil-A. "Millions of people visit its beaches each year, and with a Chick-fil-A restaurant ideally positioned right before the bridge to the beach, there is no reason not to pick up lunch on the way." Or how about picking up dinner and soaking up a beach sunset?

Beach: North Myrtle Beach in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Closest restaurant: Chick-fil-A North Myrtle Beach (1.5 miles away)

You don't need us to tell you how happening Myrtle Beach is in the summer. While Chick-fil-A has seven restaurants in the area, the one in North Myrtle Beach is situated closest to those ocean waves. "This area has the added benefit of being farther north than the more crowded beaches to the south," notes Wood.

Beach: St. Petersburg Beach in St. Petersburg, Florida
Closest restaurant: Chick-fil-A St. Pete Beach  (0.1 mile away)

"The beach is always close by in Florida, but the shortest trip from the waves to a chicken sandwich can be found in St. Petersburg," writes Wood. Grab some food and then get right back to the sand and waves.

Honorable Mention: Galveston Beach in Galveston, Texas
Closest Restaurant: Chick-fil-A Pleasure Pier (0.1 mile away)

If you're traveling to the Galveston Pleasure Pier, Chick-fil-A is a stone's throw away. Worth noting: This outpost is a Chick-fil-A Express so only a limited menu is available.

Have you been to any of these Chick-fil-A locations and enjoyed your meal on the beach?
