I Wore This Mascara While Swimming, and It Didn’t Smudge at All
This is the best waterproof mascara you'll find.
This past weekend, I convinced a group of 10 women I had the best waterproof mascara out there. I didn't have to argue my case that adamantly because the proof was in the pudding–and by "pudding," I mean we all wore it swimming in a lake for an entire day.
I've had this mascara for a few months now, but I don't wear waterproof mascara to work usually. Now that it's summer, though, this mascara has been coming out of my makeup bag more and more for weekend getaways and weddings where I expect to shed a tear or two (or 100).
So, let me tell you about the best waterproof mascara I've ever used. It comes from Japan, and I read about it before my trip to Tokyo this past December. I did a fair amount of research on beauty products and drugstore makeup buys prior to getting there, and beauty bloggers far and wide shouted their love for this mascara through my computer screen.
The mascara is called Kiss Me Heroine, and there are two versions: the Long and Curl ($12; amazon.com), and the Volume and Curl ($15; amazon.com). Both are branded with the designation "Super Waterproof," and super waterproof they are.
I have the Long and Curl, which comes in pink packaging, so I can't speak for the specific differences between the types, but I've read reviews for both that affirm each mascara's long-wear capabilities. In fact, the waterproof mascara is so durable, the main problem mentioned in the reviews is that it can be a little difficult to get off.

I had read that you need to buy a special makeup remover made by the same brand for Kiss Me Heroine's waterproof mascara, but oil-based eye makeup removers have worked fine for me. The best waterproof mascara may not come off with micellar water or your normal face wash, but that's also how it stayed on all of my friends for an entire day of swimming–and a brief downpour of rain–without it budging.
