Reese Witherspoon announced the next pick for her Hello Sunshine book club on Instagram today, and this month's choice is the heart-wrenching memoir Happiness: The Crooked Little Road to Semi-Ever After, by Heather Harpham (To buy: $16;

Heather Harpham is madly in love with Brian Morton, and together they have everything, except a family, which Brian is adamant that he does not want. Soon, Heather finds out that she is unexpectedly pregnant, and is left alone to bring a baby into the world as a single mother. When Grace is finally born, Heather must grapple with a heartbreaking reality: Her daughter is very ill, and doctors can't figure out why. While sad at times, readers will be touched by Heather's journey to find happiness even as she goes through every parent's worst nightmare.

On Monday, Reese teased the announcement on Instagram with hints about the book, including that the book was a memoir, the author has also written several plays, and the author works as a theater artist. She also teased that readers "will learn the power of community, and the kindness of strangers" from reading it.
