Is This the Most Romantic Husband in the World?
This post about a simple act of true love in a grocery store has the Internet swooning.

This story doesn't have any torn bodices, star-crossed lovers, or race-to-the-airport declarations of love, and it's unlikely that Emma Stone will option it as a follow-up to the sweeping romance of La La Land. But the tale of a husband leaving work to bring his wife a credit card at a supermarket is making women all across American fall into a collective swoon.
"This is what your knight in shining armor looks like when you are in your 40's," writes Amy Betters-Midtvedt, a mom of five who blogs about parenting at Hiding In the Closet With the Coffee. "Yes, that's my amazing husband who is arriving on the scene with his credit card because what you can't see is me, standing next to a cart super full of groceries that I couldn't pay for because I couldn't find my wallet."
If she had just stopped there, it would have been a cute post that her friends would have nodded at appreciatively. But Betters-Midtvedt goes on to explain how these little gestures—done with a smile, not with a grudging sense of duty—are what make up a truly happy marriage. The post hit home, and has now been shared more than 3,500 times.
Betters-Midtvedt wants to explain to "young people" that it isn't attention-grabbing antics like dramatic promposals or extravagant gifts that demonstrate how much someone loves you, but the everyday gestures that rarely get noticed or applauded.

"Love also looks like me coming downstairs to a full pot of coffee every morning because coffee is love… Love looks like someone washing the dishes while his wife catches up on This is Us while plopped on the couch not helping at all." (We are just going to assume that Betters-Midtvedt occasionally returns the favor so her husband can watch his favorite show, too!)
Her advice to the teens and millennials of the world? "Watch how he treats you when Instagram isn't looking."
Very wise words, indeed.
