This Is the Most Popular Wedding Gift in America
Want to impress the bride and groom? These kitchen appliances make the perfect gifts.
Wedding registries tend to be daunting spaces: You're scrolling through page after page of kitchen tools, trying to pick the perfect gift, but it's hard to be sure what will make the couple happy. The measuring cups? The toaster? It's a tough call. Luckily, the kind folks at Zola—a wedding registry and planning company—have compiled data revealing the most popular wedding gift ever, which makes your job as a wedding guest just a little bit easier.
You might not be surprised to learn that the majority of couples across the nation hoped to receive a KitchenAid stand mixer as a wedding gift—the classic kitchen tool that every home cook should have on hand. Couples were also thrilled to receive gift cards for Airbnb, which makes sense, given the expenses that can pile up during a honeymoon.
In general, however, cooking supplies topped couples' most-wanted list. Zola put together a map of the most popular wedding gifts by state and found that most of the top picks fell into the kitchenware category.
Unsurprisingly, the Le Creuset Dutch oven shows up on the map multiple times, but one of the most popular items on the map is the Lodge cast iron skillet. Cast iron skillets are versatile, long-lasting tools that simplify cooking—especially important for couples who are trying to save space or make big dinners for the family.
KitchenAid appeared on the list again—this time with its hand mixer, a less-expensive and space-saving alternative to the more popular stand mixer. And while it might seem like a one-note novelty item, the Cuisinart waffle marker also proved to be a popular choice.
No matter what you decide to gift the bride and groom, it seems as though most couples are hoping their guests will help stock their kitchen. After all, the couple that cooks together, stays together.
