Fixer Upper Is Ending: What to Expect from Chip and Joanna's Final Season
Chip and Joanna Gaines' Fixer Upper Finale
Chip and Joanna Gaines announced today that their HGTV hit series is coming to an end (we're not crying, you're crying!). Season 5, the couple's last, is set to begin airing in November, and from the moments that the pair has shared so far, it's clear they plan to go out on a high. Here's everything you can expect from Fixer Upper's final season.
Jo's 'All-Time' Favorite Makeover
One makeover will be especially close to Joanna’s heart. “Today’s house was my all time favorite #fixerupper…we got to reveal this house to my sweet sis and her family of seven (going on 8!)” the designer, 39, says. “I can’t contain the excitement — after nine years they are finally coming back to Waco!”
A Family Affair
Joanna shared another photo of the upcoming episode that one furry friend was not so excited about. “Filming a design meeting with my sister today (!!!!!!) and clearly Rover is not impressed,” she says.
At Least 11 Episodes
“Reveal number 11 today!” a smiley Joanna writes from her perch at one of the season's final projects. “This makes me happy…and so do these stairs.”
A Cameo from the Kids
The next season gets a design touch from one of Joanna’s mini-mes, daughter Ella, 10. “I’ve got my little helper today to help me finish up this #fixerupper,” she says.
Keeping the Family Close
Another of their four children, Duke, 9, hangs out just out of frame as mom Joanna films. “My little work buddy,” she says.
A Heartfelt Thank You
“It never gets old…” Joanna writes of this sweet thank you note from a young season 5 family member that includes an adorable doodle of a potato chip (in honor of the real Chip).
Goofing Around on Set
The perenially silly couple stop for a photo opp on one of their upcoming projects. “We are more than halfway there and #season5iscoming,” she writes.
Partners in Design
Chip says he’s “got the best job in the world!” serving as Joanna’s understudy. “Once a design assistant, always a design assistant,” he says.
An Enviable Field Trip
The cast hit the Round Top Antiques Fair in Texas to do some shopping for their upcoming season. One of Joanna's “favorite finds” from the hunt? These kitschy Mickey and Minnie Mouse heads.
A Returning Guest Star
Chip and Jo’s “go-to metal art guy” Jimmy Don Holmes gets a makeover on season 5. “Can’t wait for you to see the episode!” Joanna writes on this pic of Chip relaxing near Holmes on set.
Work with a view? Yes, please! “Sometimes it requires a little getaway to get the job done,” Joanna says.
A Mysterious Lucky Number
“16 is my favorite number. It was always on my jersey growing up and it’s become a good luck charm of sorts!” Chip says of this behind-the-scenes snap. But what does it have to do with the show? Chip hashtagged the picture #season5iscoming, so we expect to see this door again.
Continuing the Message Obsession
Known for her signature word art, Joanna is sticking to the favorite feature. “Checking in on some projects today and this cutie is almost finished,” she writes on this pic of a tiled floor with an Instagram-worthy message inlaid.
Joanna Getting in on the Antics
The Fixer Upper crew gets caught candid while Joanna strikes a dancy pose in this photo from the set.
More Rolling Reveals
This black-and-white shot proves the show’s giant reveal posters, printed with a "before" photo of their houses, will make the cut for season 5.
Some Hints at Future Designs
That Fixer Upper life definitely keeps Chip and Joanna busy. “We revealed a #fixerupper this morning and moved into another #fixerupper this afternoon,” Joanna says. “These reveals are coming fast which means #seasonfiveiscoming sooner than later!!”
Some Serious Teamwork
“Watching #fixerupper is so exciting you might consider wearing safety gear,” says Chip alongside this selfie of the crew donning hard hats. The stars receive plenty of help pulling off their makeovers behind the scenes.
A Chip and Jo Love Fest
“You’re my cup of tea @joannagaines,” Chip writes on this photo of the couple having a laugh on set. For all their silly banter, we can't get enough of this genuine pair's sweetest on-screen moments.
