Perfect Baked Potatoes

Credit: Jennifer Causey

All you truly need for these fluffy roasted taters are potatoes, olive oil, salt, and butter. If you’ve got some cheddar cheese on hand, even better. If not, a dollop of sour cream or some crispy crumbled bacon will do just fine.

Sausage Stuffed Onions

If you’ve got a few links of Italian sausage in your freezer, you’re halfway to dinner. In fact, five ingredients are all it takes to whip up this satisfying meal. If you don’t have Panko on hand, make your own breadcrumbs from a loaf of bread, or hamburger buns.

Curried Lima Bean Soup with Tomato

Credit: Jennifer Causey

Soup, because it’s so adaptable, is almost always in option when all you have are pantry staples. This recipe calls for onions, garlic, and carrots, but if shallots and leeks are what you have on hand, that will work just fine. Plus, you can use a can of diced tomatoes in place of fresh, and any type of frozen bean or pea you like (English peas, lima beans, or even edamame).

Bacon, Egg, and Cheese English Muffin Strata

Credit: Brie Passano

When this bubbly, cheesy strata emerges from the oven, you’ll be impressed by your own kitchen skills. That’s because as it bakes, the egg mixture puffs, the cheese melts, and the whole thing takes on savory bacon flavor.

Turkey Bolognese

Credit: Brie Passano

Rich, slow-simmered bolognese is the epitome of a cozy winter dinner. This version makes use of leftover turkey, but opt for ground beef for a more traditional version. A splash of red wine is added to the sauce; serve the rest of the bottle with dinner.

Apple Coffee Cake Twist With Giant Crumbs

Credit: Brie Passano

This delightful coffee cake begins with a can of crescent roll dough, making it great fun for kids and utterly addictive. If you have pears on hand, they'd great work in place of apples. Any nut will do here, too—pecans, almonds, or walnuts would all add flavor and crunch.

Artichoke, Rosemary, and Garlic Frittata

Credit: Sarah Karnasiewicz

With a carton of eggs, dinner possibilities are endless: make an omelet, shakshuka, or our favorite, a frittata. Garlic-infused oil and a jar of marinated artichokes pack in major flavor.
