Though we don't totally understand the intricacies of Reddit, it has alerted us to some pretty fascinating trends. First, there was the genius sticker that aims to prevent shoppers from buying unripe avocados. Then, there was the pixelated avocado, appropriately posted to the Oddly Satisfying thread. And now, there's a new food pic making the rounds, though instead of an avocado, it's a very beautiful cake.

Upon first glance, it may seem obvious why the cake has garnered so much attention. The cake, which was posted to the food thread on Thursday, May 11, frosted in gorgeous pastel colors in what the baker calls a "watercolour effect." Beginning with gold at the top, then moving into yellow, green, blue, pink, and purple, the cake also has a sort of rainbow design—or, dare we say it, a unicorn-like effect.

But in addition to its visual appeal, Reddit users are also riled up about the size of the cake. The cake is placed next to a pair of coffee cups, and it appears that either the cake is very small, or the coffee cups are unusually large. Other commenters are asking to see the inside of the cake, and still others are put off by the fact that it is a coffee cake (one user claims he would bite in and expect a lemon cake). Still others are wondering whether it is even a traditional coffee cake at all, or whether the title implies it is a coffee-flavored cake filled with walnuts.

The post has received upwards of 100 comments, as well as 11.9k "up votes" (and counting). If you're curious about other recent cake trends, check out these gorgeous brushstroke cakes.
