The South's Best Winners 2017
No one knows the South better than the Southern Living community. So, last fall, our editors decided to launch an annual, crowd-source featured around the South’s best places – and your response was overwhelming. In true Southern spirit, you voted enthusiastically on the places that make you proud to live in the South.
Our list celebrates the spectacular sights, inspiring destinations, and cultural institutions that define the South in 2017. To create the first ever South’s Best list, Southern Living surveyed more than 22,000 readers on the best-loved places in 13 categories: bars, BBQ joints, breweries, cities, hotels, inns, islands, museums, resorts, restaurants, shops, small towns, and tailgates.
From an Irish pub in Mobile, Alabama, to a historic hotel in Asheville, North Carolina, from a charming shop in Savannah, Georgia, to the great city of Charleston, South Carolina, this was a reminder of the spectacular sights, inspiring people, and cultural institutions that define our region.
Celebrate with us as we reveal the South’s Best winners – a mix of old favorites and Southern newcomers that showcase all the South has to offer.
