What’s better than tacos and pizza? Taco pizza. When it comes to an unexpected but completely delicious combination, we have your best interests at heart. This pizza is amazing, and it really does taste like tacos. That’s thanks to the combination of seasoned meat, creamy beans, bright salsa, and deliciously gooey cheese. It’s everything you love about a taco, but in pizza form. Our Test Kitchen says, “the fresh pizza dough is a great vessel for all your favorite taco toppings,” and “This tastes a lot like the classic layered taco dip recipe—just on a pizza crust!” Also, while you can make it with the ingredients you have on hand, the pro move is to go for the brands our Test Kitchen recommends: Old El Paso for the taco seasoning and Herdez Salsa, which is readily available at many grocery stores. It’s hard to eat only one slice of this delicious pizza. It’s great for movie nights and lunch dates alike.

How to Make It

Step 1

Place a pizza stone, pizza pan, or large baking sheet on middle rack in oven. Preheat oven to 500°F (do not remove pizza stone while oven preheats). Cook ground beef in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high, stirring until crumbled and no longer pink, about 7 minutes. Stir in taco seasoning and water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until thickened, 3 to 4 minutes. Set aside.

Step 2

Stir together beans and salsa in small bowl.

Step 3

Roll dough out into a 14-inch circle on a lightly floured surface. Transfer dough circle to hot pizza stone, and, working quickly, spread bean mixture over dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Top with ground beef mixture and cheese.

Step 4

Bake at 500°F until cheese is bubbly and lightly browned, 9 to 10 minutes. Remove pizza, and let stand 5 minutes. Stir together sour cream, lime juice, chopped cilantro, and salt; spoon over pizza. Top with tomatoes, pickled jalapeños, and cilantro leaves.
