How to Make It
Heat 2 tablespoons bacon grease in a 10-inch cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add okra to hot grease, stirring until liquid begins to seep out from okra. Stir in cornmeal to coat okra. Fry, stirring often, until crisp and very brown, about 15-20 minutes, adding more bacon grease to pan to help crisp if needed.
