This brussels sprout slaw recipe is a lively balance of sweet, bright, tangy, and smoky, and it’s sure to add the perfect amount of freshness to your Thanksgiving table this year. Very brightly colored and flavored, this dish pairs beautifully with baked turkey, green bean casserole, and corn pudding. The bonito, which you can pick up at your local Asian market, adds a smoky undertone that is delightfully different from any other slaw. It only takes 30 minutes to prepare, so you won’t be stuck in the kitchen on Turkey Day while your family visits in the living room. Smoky brussels spout slaw cuts through all the brown stuff on your Thanksgiving table, and after creamy potatoes, candied yams, and cornbread dressing, you’ll be in search of something green. Don’t wait another minute! Give this unique recipe a try; we know you won’t regret it.

How to Make It

Step 1

Thinly slice 1 lb. trimmed Brussels sprouts using a mandolin or food processor fitted with the slicer attachment.

Step 2

Transfer sliced Brussels sprouts to a large bowl. Add 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 tablespoon salt; toss to coat. Let stand 15 minutes.

Step 3

Add bonito flakes; toss. Let stand 10 minutes. Add mayonnaise, lime juice, pepper, carrots, beets, and radishes. Let stand 5 minutes to allow the Brussels sprouts to wilt slightly and the flavors to marry. Top with pomegranate.
