We always recommend topping a milkshake with a hearty serving of homemade whipped cream, of course, but the kids can have fun topping their shakes with whatever they'd like to create something all their own. Whether they pick chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, chopped pecans, cinnamon, nutmeg, or even bits of peanut butter, chocolate, or toffee candies, these banana milkshakes will taste delicious. These cool desserts can be enjoyed anytime, whether as an afternoon snack or a late-night dessert. If you’re having guests, make a batch ahead and serve them in mini Mason jars for a fun surprise. There are truly endless possibilities with an easy homemade shake recipe, and this recipe is no exception. Cool off, sit back, and relax with a delicious banana milkshake.

How to Make It

Step 1

Preheat oven to 425°F. Place bananas (in peel) on a baking sheet, and bake in preheated oven until peel is very dark and just starting to split open, 20 to 25 minutes. Let bananas cool completely, about 20 minutes. Remove and discard peels.

Step 2

Place roasted bananas, ice cream, milk, caramel topping, and vanilla in a blender. Process until completely smooth, about 45 seconds. Pour into 4 glasses, and top with whipped cream, a drizzle of caramel topping, and banana slices.
