Native to Madagascar. Upright clump to 3040 feet tall, 2530 feet wide, with numerous large leaves held in the shape of a gigantic fan atop an unbranched trunk. Foliage resembles that of banana (Musa). Spectacular accent in the garden or displayed against a large building. Protect from strong winds, which will shred the leaves. Small plants have some shade tolerance, can be used as potted specimens.
