Reseeding European annual naturalized throughout the South. Sprawling stems hold bright green leaves and small scarlet-orange blooms. Flowers open and close with the sun. A. a. caerulea has deep blue, larger flowers; it tolerates most soils and heat, thrives in dry gardens, and grows well in containers.
