“Always be kind and be nice to people. You never know what they are going through.”

A young Alabama man and his act of kindness towards a stranger has touched hearts all over the world.

Last week, Jamario Howard was eating at Brad’s diner in Oxford with two friends when he saw a senior woman sitting alone.

“My exact thoughts [were] ‘dang I’d hate to have to eat alone,’” he recalled in a now-viral Facebook post (below).

Howard approached the older woman and asked if he could sit with her. A brief conversation revealed that she had just lost her husband — and the next day would have been their 60th anniversary.

“I instantly gave my condolences and asked her to come eat with us, which she was excited to do,” Howard’s Facebook post continues.

Howard goes on to say that the whole experience has changed not only his outlook on life, but how he sees other people. A photo of the unlikely foursome sharing a meal has been liked more than 166,000 times and received upwards of 45,000 shares.

“The point in this is always be kind and be nice to people. You never know what they are going through,” he wrote. “Everyone has a story so do not judge! And people I can’t stress this enough. GO SEE YOUR MOM AND YOUR GRANDPARENTS. They miss you!!”

Well done, Jamario!
