Gearing up to plan summer travel? Us too. A jaunt to Waco, perhaps? A birthday trip to Hawaii? Crossing some Disney World must-sees off your list?

Wherever your summer travels may take you, chances are you've checked Kayak or Google Flights more than a few times to track airfare prices and played the should I or shouldn't I game. According to travel planning company Hipmunk, you can ditch the layperson contemplation and listen to their data: American travelers should book their summer travel for the months of June, July, and August the week of April 23rd to maximize domestic flight savings. Based on their intel, doing so can save you up to 12 percent on airfare.

Even more impressively, if you're planning to fly on Memorial Day or the Fourth of July, booking the week of April 23rd can save you 16 percent and 14 percent, respectively. In not so fun news, their calculations also determined that booking prices for summer domestic flights are up 4 percent compared to the booking window of January 1st to April 14th of last year, so if you're looking to keep your wallet happy amidst a climate of spiked airfare, solidify those summer travel plans next week.
