Looking to escape mosquitoes? Good luck.

Looking to escape an insane amount of mosquitoes? Steer clear of Atlanta. At least according to Orkin — the pest control company — rankings for 2019's Top 50 Mosquito Cities.

For the sixth year in a row, Atlanta bit its way to the top of the list based on the number of customers served with mosquito issues from April 1st, 2018 through March 31st, 2019, including both residential and commercial treatments. Atlanta didn't stand alone as a Southern ambassador, though, Washington, D.C., Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Charlotte, and Raleigh-Durham also made the top 10. You can see the full list here.

It's worth noting that Orkin is based in Atlanta, which could skew the results since likely more hometown clients call on Orkin's services than in other parts of the country. Either way, having a mosquito infestation is no fun: "Mosquitoes are more than annoying; they can be a major health threat," said Dr. Mark Beavers, Orkin entomologist in a company statement. "Mosquito-borne diseases such as West Nile virus, encephalitides, dengue, chikungunya and for those who may remember, Zika, threaten the safety of humans and pets."
