Our hearts go out to Tim Tebow is in mourning ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. His beloved dog Bronco has died. Last week, Tebow took to Instagram to share his emotional last moments with his trusted sidekick of nine years.

The post starts, “One of the toughest goodbyes. Wanted to make a special tribute to the sweetest boy ever - thank you for all the joy you brought and all the memories.” Through a series of sweet but incredibly sad videos and photos, the former Florida Gator openly weeps as he is saying his final farewells to Bronco. And then we see photos and videos of happier times and a young, sprite Bronco the pup.

Then, in a later post, we see a photo Tebow taking a knee at the grave of his lost friend. He says that he is thankful and “humbled” for all of the support he’s received since he first shared the news of Bronco crossing the Rainbow Bridge. Then he says, “I was able to lay Bronco to rest in a really special place. Thank you all for so much encouragement. I love you Bronco, thanks for being the sweetest boy.”

In the nine years Tebow and Bronco had together, the furry friend saw his human through a lot of life. Tebow adopted Bronco the same year he was drafted to the NFL by the Denver Broncos—which is how the Rhodesian ridgeback got his name. When Tebow transitioned to baseball from football, and then to the broadcast booth, Bronco was there. As the star built his own philanthropic foundation and as he met his true love, fiancé Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, Bronco was part of the package.
