Tim McGraw's latest album Here on Earth is here. And his raison d'être for being, well, here on earth? His wife Faith Hill and his three daughters, Gracie, Maggie, and Audrey.

In a recent interview with NBC News host Willie Geist on the Sunday edition of TODAY, the country music star shared just how much his family means to him.

"I've found that the times that I've spent working with Faith, especially touring with Faith, that my records got sort of exponentially better," the Louisiana-born singer explained. "Because having to sing with her every night, it's like a NASCAR trying to keep up with an Indy car. She's truly, in my opinion, one of the greatest singers that's ever sang a song."

"Then I get that look from her sometimes during the middle of the show with her, you know, 'You're faltering a bit, son, you need to keep up,'" he quipped. "The point is she makes me better."

Talking about the album's title track "Here on Earth" Geist says, "You sang in the song beautifully about this moment we all have where you close your eyes and it hits you, 'this is why I'm here on earth.' Do you remember that moment for you?"

"I certainly remember that moment where I met my wife think for everyone those things happen where you realize what you're doing, and why you're doing it, and what you're here for," McGraw says. "The fathers out there can appreciate the first time you hold your child is certainly the moment that you realize that anything else that you do has meant nothing until this moment."

Later in the interview, McGraw comments on how the coronavirus crisis has given his family the unexpected gift of spending more time together. "It's tough. There's a part of you that is excited for them, you want them to go out and conquer the world and you certainly don't want to feel like they don't need you anymore," he said. "However, in these times, it's a little different because not knowing what's going to happen with college with our youngest daughter, for her, it's not been so good. But for us, it's been sort of a blessing because you never see them that much."
