Tim McGraw Honors Elvis Presley on the 43rd Anniversary of His Death
McGraw shared some heartfelt words about he musical giant on social media.
A hunk, a hunk of burning admiration.
It's safe to say that's how country star Tim McGraw feels about the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. "I’m often asked who I would like to hang out with with living or passed… and there’s no question… The King," McGraw wrote yesterday accompanying an Instagram post depicting a black-and-white photo of Elvis. "We lost him 43 years ago today... man he was cool," concluded McGraw, recognizing the 43rd anniversary of Presley's death on August 16th, 1977.
Fans clearly felt similarly about McGraw's sentiment—did we mention Reese Witherspoon liked the post, too?—with comments including the likes of "Best answer. He was the best," "I believe he's up in heaven just shaking those hips along with his grandson, parents, and brother Jesse by his side," and "I agree such a talent lost way too soon." One follower of McGraw's even suggested, "Why don't you impersonate him in some of your shows?" A sight we'd sure be excited to see for ourselves.
Thousands of fans typically head to Elvis' home, Graceland, this time of year for a bustling lineup of Elvis Week events to commemorate the iconic musician's life along with a candlelight vigil on the eve of his death. This year visitors for the annual vigil were capped at around 700 amid the coronavirus pandemic, per Memphis' WMC5 TV, and allowed to enter with masks and adhering to social distancing guidelines. If you didn't catch it live, you can stream this year's candlelight vigil online here.

Do we have any fellow Elvis fans in the building? If you could see McGraw cover any Elvis song, which would you choose?
These days, McGraw is keeping busy with the release of his upcoming album, Here on Earth. The country crooner will celebrate the album's release with a livestream and Q&A on August 21, at 9 p.m. ET. You can buy a ticket for the interactive experience here.
Can we put in a special request for an Elvis tune in the encore? We're thinking "Can't Help Falling in Love" --> "Jailhouse Rock."
