We all need a little Midge Maisel in our lives during these strange, uncertain days. Unfortunately, with the coronavirus pandemic upending the production of Emmy award-winning Amazon Prime series, we likely won't have season four for a while. As we recently reported, while costume fitting for season four of the hit series resumed in September, actual filming of the season is still a ways off.

Per a new article on TVLine, the showrunners have sketched a plan for what they hope the coming months will look like production-wise: “We’re starting back on January 7. Costume fittings are happening [now], sets are being built like mad. All of the stuff is happening," Amy Sherman-Palladino, the show's executive producer and creator shared during a Woodstock Film Festival virtual panel discussion. “We’re breaking our stories, we’re writing, And then in December we’re dragging the actors in and we’re going to table read the scripts. And then, come January 7, it’s, ‘On your mark, get set, go.'” Of course, in light of the global health crisis, that timeline could change as the coronavirus situation evolves.

Meanwhile, the pandemic also creates some difficult hurdles in terms of the plot, as giant gatherings are likely out of the question during the time the series hopes to be filming “There will be a lot more visual effects because there are limits to what we can do,” Daniel Palladino, co-executive producer (and Amy Sherman-Palladino's husband) said in the same article. “Last season, our premiere had 850 extras in an airplane hangar. We cannot do that.”

Nevertheless, Sherman-Palladino reassured fans of the show that season four is "going to happen, it’s just going to happen in a slightly different way.”
