Make like that hula girl on your dash and enjoy a breezier, more laid-back pace of life this spring at the welcoming beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel Island.

There's perhaps no better time to make the trip than March with Spring Training for the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins at Fort Myers' JetBlue Park and CenturyLink Sports Complex. Super fans can also book special experiences like game tickets, three-day/night hotel accomodations, and a meet-and-greet barbecue with Red Sox players.

With the average temperature around 75 degrees, but off-peak hotel and airfare rates still the norm, there's also plenty for non-baseball lovers to savor. For music lovers, consider timing your trip Songwriters at Sunset at Lover's Key State Park on March 1st where the beach barbecue is as mellifluous as the tunes you'll hear. Film enthusiasts best book their vacation around the Fort Myers Film Festival, running March 21st through the 25th. There's also the 81st Annual Sanibel Shell Fair & Show from March 1st through 3rd on Sanibel Island which is a crafter's dream come to life (be sure to visit the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum, too).

Did we mention the beaches? Whether your day winds down after nine innings or shell-hunting, we promise a nightcap at The Beach Pub was just what the ump called for.
