Recently, the couple got engaged in Dallas, and mama Ree Drummond has been kind enough to give us all the inside scoop on the proposal. The stunning venue? Nasher Sculpture Center, a modern and contemporary art museum with a beautiful outdoor sculpture garden. In a recent blog post on The Pioneer Woman website, Ree broke down the engagement story, much to fans' delight. "Under the guise of Mauricio's stepmom's birthday, he and his brother Carlos picked up Alex at her Dallas apartment and headed to what she thought was a celebration dinner," she wrote. "Maurico and Carlos's dad called and said they'd be 'thirty minutes late' which meant the three of them needed to kill time. So they decided to check out Nasher Sculpture Center which is temporarily closed to the public, but open for private moments like this. Mauricio had arranged all of this ahead of time." Joyce Marshall/Fort Worth Star-Telegram/Tribune News Service via Getty Images As they walked outside in the garden, Mauricio surprised Alex with a romantic setup with flowers, a framed photo of them, and more to set the backdrop as he got down on one knee. Little did Alex know but Alex and Mauricio's families were hiding in a room of the museum where they could see the couple's proposal from a distance and gather with them afterwards. If you'd like to arrange for portrait photography or a private event at Nasher Sculpture center, visit their website here. Due to the coronavirus crisis, the museum is currently closed to the public, but has plans to reopen with new protocols on August 20th. Is this not a beautiful proposal or what? We hope these "newly engaged pookie heads," as Ree calls them, enjoy this exciting chapter in their lives. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why! Other Submit
