Realtor.com shares the top spots for flying solo.
Single and looking to settle down? You may want to consider planting your roots in Louisville, Kentucky.
Realtor.com released their list of the 10 best cities for singles to live, play — and buy a home today, revealing the best metropolitan areas for single home buyers. To determine their list, the realtor.com data team considered a variety of features, as described in their blog post:
- Mortgages intel: "The share of mortgages taken out by home buyers who aren't married over the past 12 months, according to mortgage processor Ellie Mae."
- All the single ladies (and men): "The share of one-person (single) households, according to Nielsen."
- Leisure-time activities: "The number of social clubs, dance clubs, sports bars, gay clubs, karaoke bars, nightlife venues, adult sports teams, hiking businesses, and gyms per capita, according to Yelp.com."
Louisville, with a median list price of $250,000 secured the #9 slot on the top 10 list, with a 48% share of mortgages taken out by singles. The first, second, and third best cities for single home buyers according to their research were Springfield
(MA), Cleveland, and New Haven, respectively. Interestingly, Derby City was the only Southern locale to make the top 10 cut.
