Princess Diana’s Private Chef Reveals Endearing Flaw
Turns out the royal mama needed a little extra help in the kitchen
We Southerners have long admired the many positive attributes that made Princess Diana adored by millions worldwide, even now, decades after her death. Deemed “The People’s Princess,” she was a pioneer in her day. She championed many charitable causes others wouldn’t have dared before her. She had an impeccable ability to reach out and make anyone she met feel like the most important person in the room—whether that person was a Hollywood star or child in the hospital.
Of course, we all remember her endless love of her sons and the steadfast determination she had to give them as normal a childhood as she could. And even though she didn’t prepare them herself on the account that their royal status afforded the luxury of a private chef—like any other mama, she paid close attention to making sure her boys were well fed with healthy, balanced meals. Even against the young princes wishes, like when Harry tried to outsmart the chef into giving them the junk food they desired, as the story goes.

In fact that former chef, Darren McGrady, recently spilled a secret about Diana’s kitchen abilities, or lack thereof, to Hello Magazine. "She couldn't cook, the Princess was a terrible cook. She really was. I would actually leave food for her," he said.
"I worked Monday to Friday and I'd leave food in the refrigerator for the weekend, like stuffed peppers, she loved those for a weekend lunch. I actually put cling film on with a little sticky note with a number two on it, and that told her to put it in the microwave and press two. That's just how bad she was at cooking!”
“When the boys were home I'd stay there and cook on weekends too but if it was just the Princess, I'd have weekends off and leave food for her," he added.
