A cozy hideaway on the stately grounds of Kensington Palace
The royal news we have been waiting for was finally shared this morning—Prince Harry and his American girlfriend Meghan Markle are engaged. The official engagement announcement released by the Royal Family also stated that the couple will be living in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace. The cottage already holds sweet memories for the newly engaged couple as it served as a cozy and romantic setting for their proposal.
Located on the grounds of Kensington Palace, the cottage will be the first home the two share. According to The Telegraph, Meghan stayed at Nottingham Cottage with Prince Harry when she visited throughout their courtship and, before that, it was home to William and Kate. Although the Duke and Duchess have moved on to a larger residence, they are not far and remain as neighbors to Prince Harry and Meghan.
In their first interview following the engagement announcement, the couple shared that they have spent time getting to know each other by spending nights in front of the television and enjoying dinners at home. Sharing time in the cottage allowed the couple to talk and enjoy each other’s company without being in the public eye. The pair have also hosted friends for dinner and enjoyed the close proximity to Prince Harry’s family.
While the residence will serve as a great starter home for the couple, it is expected that they will follow in the footsteps of William and Kate and move to a larger home once they start a family of their own.
