Louisiana Governor Treats Little League World Series Champs to Sold-Out Popeyes Chicken Sandwiches
"Only the best for Louisiana's own 2019 Little League World Series Champions!"
Being the Little League World Champions certainly has its perks. Over the weekend, members of this year’s champion team from River Ridge, Louisiana, became the only people in the world to get their hands on Popeyes' sold-out chicken sandwiches.
During Sunday’s visit to the Governor’s Mansion in Baton Rouge, WBRZ reports that the players received their own personalized baseball bats and even got to meet LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri. But that’s not the only surprise Governor John Bel Edwards had up his sleeve. For their meal, Edwards managed to secure a supply of the coveted Popeyes chicken sandwiches.
"Only the best for Louisiana's own 2019 Little League World Series Champions!" the governor wrote alongside a video of the grand reveal on Twitter (below).
The young champs appear appropriately excited to see the sandwiches revealed on two giant platters.
Popeyes’ famous chicken sandwich has been out of stock since August, when the company announced that they were "sold out" nationwide due to unprecedented demand.
