Peanut butter and jelly time just got a major upgrade in San Antonio, thanks to the arrival of PB&J with Tay, a new eatery devoted entirely to—you guessed it—the mighty peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

The new sandwich shop, located at 5335 McCullough Ave in Olmos Park, was founded by Jeremiah Burns, who sweetly named the restaurant after his fiancée, Taylor Negrete, and his daughter, Taylyn Mia Burns. He decided to open his PB&J emporium after realizing Texas had a dearth of venues focused solely on the popular sandwich.

"I ran with it and couldn't get it done fast enough," he told the San Antonio Express-News. "Every time you talk about PB&J, it makes people smile; everybody and anybody eats PB&J."

The menu highlights some traditional go-tos (a classic PB&J, a double decker PB&J, "The Elvis," with banana and bacon slathered on top of a base of peanut butter and jelly) along with some innovative riffs on the sandwich ("The Texan," with peanut butter, jalapeño jelly, and bacon, "The PB&P" with a pickle in lieu of jelly, and "The Pooh Bear" with peanut butter, banana, walnuts, and honey). All sandwiches are served with Lays Poato Chips and can be grilled upon request. Sandwiches run from $6 for the classic to $10 for "The Kitchen Sink" which includes peanut butter, Nutella, marshmallow fluff, jelly, bacon, banana, walnuts, and coconut (thankfully they left the pickle out of this one). The jellies used at PB&J with Tay are from fellow San Antonio biz, Lone Star Pure, which crafts specialty candied jalapeños and jellies.

Love a good seasonal treat? November's special sandwich will be "The Pumpkin Spice Delight," featuring pumpkin spice jelly, walnuts, and marshmallow fluff on Texas Toast, reports the San Antonio Express-News.

If you're especially hungry, you can purchase additional sides with your sandwich-and-chips combo, like Cuties mandarins, cookies, and apples.
