There are bookstores. And then there hop in your car, drive hundreds of miles, and plan a long weekend around spending quality time there kind of bookstores.

William Chrisant and Sons' Old Florida Book Shop in Dania Beach, Florida, just outside of Fort Lauderdale, falls into the latter category. This antique book store specializes in buying and selling old and rare books and prints, along with vintage magazines and historical maps, and is the kind of place that bookworms will want to hole up in for days on end. "William Chrisant & Sons’ Old Florida Book Shop is an old-world bookstore tucked away in a sleepy mall in Dania Beach," owner William Christiant, a member of the Florida Antiquarian Booksellers' Association, the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America, and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers, shared with Southern Living. "Step inside and you enter a diminutive Hogwarts with shelves sixteen-feet to the ceiling, rolling ladders, oriental carpets, Tiffany-style lamps, and antique bookcases. Prices range from one to several hundred dollars with more expensive books available on request," he said.

The space also hosts events like book club meetings and author talks, as well as live musical performances. Part European library of yesteryear, part formal living room-meets-speakeasy in ambiance, a visit to this incredible space is a must for any guest to the area. If your travels aren't taking you to Florida in the near future, Old Florida Book Shop's online offerings are pretty solid, with recent options ranging from a 1916 Vogue magazine cover to Cities of the World: Their origin, progress, and present aspect, published in 1882.
