If you’ve ever dreamed of cooking like Downton Abbey’s incomparable Mrs. Patmore, you’re in luck. The Official Downton Abbey Cookbook will be released on September 17, just ahead of the premiere of the highly anticipated film on September 20.
The Downton fan’s culinary bible (which is available for preorder now!) contains every recipe mentioned in the show plus dozens of original recipes of the period, courtesy of food historian and show consultant Annie Gray.
According to its official description, the book’s more than 100 recipes and accompanying photographs showcase the cookery and customs of the Crawley household “from upstairs dinner party centerpieces to downstairs puddings and pies.” We’re talking oysters au gratin, chicken vol-au-vents, toad-in-the-hole, steak and kidney pie, and a whole lot more. The recipes are grouped by occasion, so you can have everything from breakfast to upstairs dinner covered.

And that’s not all. The Downton Abbey Cookbook ($24.50; Amazon.com) also includes a special section on hosting Downton-themed dinner parties with stills from the TV series and upcoming film. You’ll also find notes on the etiquette and customs of the times, quotes from the characters, and descriptions of the scenes in which the foods appear.
