Dollywood Is Planning a New Hotel in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
Here's everything we know so far.
Planning a vacation to Dollywood in the coming months? Beyond the fact that the theme park recently underwent a $37 million expansion, there's more exciting news on deck.
As Knoxville's WBIR-TV recently revealed, the network has received documents showing that Dollywood is planning a massive new resort between its Splash Country water park and DreamMore resort. "The preliminary site plan, presented to the Pigeon Forge Planning Commission last month, includes a 310-room hotel, a 325-seat restaurant and a conference space," Cole Sullivan reports. The hotel is expected to employ at least 100 people, helping to give those in the local community new career opportunities. More details and exact timing remains vague, but we're certainly thrilled to hear that planning for the new resort is in the works. Watch the full news clip here.
.At the present moment, Parton herself is keeping quiet about the news update, though she has previously dropped hints to the media about a new hotel joining her Pigeon Forge empire. For now, Dollywood spokesperson Pete Owens told WBIR-TV, "We have nothing to announce at this time. When Dolly is ready to announce future expansions, we will let you know." We're waiting for you to come out and spread the good news, Smoky Mountain Songbird. We guess for the time being, we'll tide ourselves over with Christmas at Dollywood, which airs on the Hallmark Channel on Sunday, December 8th at 8:00pm.
Personally, we think nothing is more magical than Dollywood during Christmastime—the lights, the music, the wintertime magic— but this news definitely has our wheels turning about saving our Pigeon Forge vacation for when the yet-to-be-announced hotel is ready for business.
