Now that's luck, y'all!

Imagine winning the lottery twice in the same day. Unthinkable, right? While it's hard to imagine, that's exactly what happened to one impossibly lucky North Carolina woman this week.

On Monday, Kimberly Morris of Wake Forest walked into the Raleigh headquarters of the N.C. Education Lottery to claim the $10,000 she won off a $4,000,000 Diamond Dazzler scratch-off ticket she'd purchased at a local Harris Teeter. "I was shocked," Morris told lottery officials. "It felt really great to win, but I really have always dreamed I could win $1 million."

As fate would have it, that dream was about to come true.

On her way home, Morris stopped by a Quality Food Mart in Raleigh and purchased another $4,000,000 Diamond Dazzler ticket. You know, to try her luck again.

"I wasn't really expecting much," Morris recalled of her decision to buy another $20 ticket. "I just enjoy playing the lottery."

And so she scratched. Morris immediately called her husband—she'd won $1 million.

"She was freaking out on the phone," her husband John told the Education Lottery. "I couldn't understand her, so I told her to slow down. When I realized what she was saying, I didn't believe her at first. I had to come home and see it for myself."

And so the mother-of-three returned to the headquarters of the N.C. Education Lottery for the second time that day, only this time she left with a much larger check. Morris chose to receive a lump sum of $600,000, and after state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $417,012. She plans to share some of the money with her kids and invest the rest.

Not bad for one day's work, eh?
