Movie-goers, rejoice! If the rising cost of a trip to the cinema has kept you on your couch as opposed to in those red, cushioned seats at your local movie theater, you're in luck.

MoviePass, the subscription-based service started in 2011 by Netflix co-founder Mitch Lowe, is now offering subscribers "unlimited" movie passes at a new, low cost. The price is so cheap, you'll have plenty of money left over for popcorn and nachos. Yes, you read that correctly. You now have the option to see as many movies as you want per month for $9.95. There's just one catch, though: the maximum amount of movies you can watch per day is one.

But let's focus on the positive, okay? That means Dunkirk, Annabelle: Creation, Despicable Me 3, and The Dark Tower can all be viewed in one week—for less than it would cost you for a single ticket. According to the National Association of Theatre Owners, the average cost of going to the movies in 2016 was $8.65, and the prices are expected to hit another record high in 2017.

With MoviePass finding growing acceptance at 90 percent of theaters across the country, Lowe, said he hopes the price change will boost the stagnant theater industry and get more people back into the seats—in front of the big screen.

"We are changing the way consumers think about going to the movies by making it possible to experience a broader array of films—from the latest summer blockbuster to a critically acclaimed documentary—through a subscription model," said Lowe in this statement issued on Tuesday, August 15.

While film buffs are completely beside themselves, AMC Theatres, on the other hand, is not. The theater chain basically said, "thanks but no thanks," or more accurately, "not welcome here."

According to Variety, AMC is also considering pursuing legal action. In a statement released to the trade magazine, AMC cautioned that MoviePass "is not in the best interest of moviegoers, movie theatres and movie studios," with the company questioning the long-term effects of a reduced price point.

Regardless of the dispute between MoviePass and AMC, rest assured, movie fans, you can still use the service right now at AMC, Regal, and Cinemark, too—just in time for the end of summer.
