Merle Haggard's Former California Home Is Listed for $359,000
It's the home where the singer wrote "Okie from Muskogee."
Outlaw country fan? Music legend Merle Haggard's home in Bakersfield, California is on the market for $359,000. The five-bedroom, three-bathroom house is a roomy 3,620-square-feet and also features a pool, pool house, and of course, a recording room.
Haggard bought the ranch-style house in 1969 as his career began to take off. The famous singer and songwriter lived in the house with his second wife, country artist Bonnie Owens (ex-wife to country music great Buck Owens), and his four children from his first marriage, Dana, Marty, Kelli, and Noel, and his mother, Flossie, as Realtor.com reports. Haggard wrote his famed single "Okie from Muskogee" in these digs and the house's fireplace is featured in the cover of his album, Merle Haggard's Christmas Present, which was released in 1973.
