Not all dates are created equal. (Ain't that the truth?)

Turns out, their accompanying tabs aren't equal, either. In a recent survey from Match.com, the dating site, along with financial analysis company, 24/7 Wall Street, created an index to determine the average cost of a date in every state of America. As USA TODAY reports, a "date," by the survey's measures included dinner for two, a bottle of wine, and two movie tickets. Nationally, the average cost came out to $102.32, with New York ringing in as the most expensive state for a date with an average cost of $297.27. The best deal? South Dakota, clocking in with an average date cost of $38.27.

Read on to see how each Southern state ranked.
