If you were lucky enough to catch the premiere of Hallmark Channel's latest original movie, Love Takes Flight, on Saturday night, you might have noticed something familiar about the backdrop. That's because it was filmed in one of the South's most iconic cities: Savannah, Georgia.

Based on a true story, Love Takes Flight stars Nikki DeLoach as Lizzie Beauman, a single mom and hospital administrator who falls for the new EMS pilot at work. The heartwarming flick wasn't only filmed in Savannah, the story is set there too.

Viewers are bound to recognize a number of the iconic landmarks featured in the film, including the city's quaint Historic District and Wormsloe Historic Site, which happens to boast one of the country's dreamiest oak avenues.

For DeLoach, who was born and raised in the Savannah area, the movie holds an extra special place in her heart. "I was born and raised about an hour and a half from Savannah, in a small town called Blackshear, Georgia. And my family still lives there, they all live on a farm," she told CountryLiving.com, adding that her relatives were even able to visit while she was on set. "I really got in some family time, which was amazing. Absolutely amazing."
