Four months after Hurricane Harvey tore through Houston, Lone Star College has come up with a generous way to help its neighbors get back on their feet. The local community college system has announced free classes for residents trying to rebuild after Harvey. Seriously.

The Rebuild Houston grant provides free construction industry classes, books, and uniforms to people in affected either professionally or personally by Hurricane Harvey.

"This funding is intended to temporarily expand capacity to serve dislocated workers, including military service members or self-employed individuals who become unemployed or significantly underemployed and to re-employ laid-off workers and enhance their employability and earnings," according to the website.

Qualified students can receive certificates in various construction-related skills, including drywall application, electrical work, HVAC installation, masonry, plumbing and more.

Visit LoneStar.edu for more information and to see if you qualify for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
