This week, beloved snack cake brand and frequent occupant of lunch boxes everywhere, Little Debbie, posted a tweet that sent the Internet into frenzy. It was a photo with four of their most popular treats: Christmas Tree Cakes, Nutty Buddy, Oatmeal Crème Pies and Honey Buns. Above the images of the packaged dessert wonders were the words "ONE GOTTA GO FOREVER."

Obviously this post provoked outrage and much debate. Turns out, everyone has their favorite Little Debbie snack and no one wants to live without it. This includes one very important Southerner, Alabama Coach, Nick Saban. It's a well-documented fact that part of the secret to Saban's success could be attributed to his steady consumption of Oatmeal Crème Pies. ESPN reporter, Marty Smith, made note of this on a visit with Saban in 2016

Now as the resourceful Southerners that we are, we could make our own oatmeal crème pie or peanut butter chocolate treat, but sometimes nothing else will do than that perfectly portioned little dessert for one. The thought of losing one of these four iconic staples of the grocery aisle even caused an argument to erupt here, in the Southern Living office! This editor stands firm that the Christmas Trees are an essential part of celebrating the holiday season. Another, unnamed member of our staff, disagrees.

But we can all take a collective deep breath and exhale a sigh of relief. Southern Living spoke to Mike Gloekler, Communications and Public Relations Manager for McKee foods, Little Debbie's parent company, and he said it was just for laughs.

"Our social media team decided to get in on some Internet fun and play that game where you pose the hypothetical question, if you had to give up one of these four, which would it be?"

So this was not a declaration of major changes for the brand but rather, just a way to engage their fans on social media. The post certainly isn't clear on that, but they definitely got the engagement they were after! McKee assured us that we could all relax. It was "all in good fun," and he said that they would never eliminate one of these four best-selling products from their line up.

"That would be like Coca-Cola getting rid of Coke. We'd never do it."

Well thank goodness! Lunchboxes across the South are safe! And now that we know that, we can play along. If trapped on a desert island and you could only have one, which Little Debbie snack would you choose?
