It turns out that Kyle Chandler has more in common with Eric Taylor than a Texas zip code and a charming drawl.

Chandler, whose portrayal of Friday Night Lights' stalwart high school football coach earned him a Primetime Emmy Award as well as our undying love, recently appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Speaking with Clarkson, the actor revealed how five seasons of dispensing wisdom as Coach Taylor seeped into his personal life, particularly when it came to offering fatherly advice to his daughters Sawyer and Sydney.

Chandler, who lives on a 33-acre ranch outside Austin with his wife Kathryn, admitted that he often found himself repeating lines from the series.

"I'll tell you what, when we were shooting that show, my daughters at that time were in high school and grade school—there's six years difference between the two of them—and I heard more than a few times, 'Dad, just stop… I saw the episode,'" Chandler recalled to Clarkson with a laugh.

The award-winning actor, who most recently appeared alongside George Clooney in Netflix's sci-fi thriller The Midnight Sky, also shared how the reserve happened when his home life made its way into the show.

"Connie [Britton] and I would improv every once in a while, and I would also bring fights that my wife and I would have that were sort of unresolved, and I would create them again on the show," he told an incredulous Clarkson.

"it's the only way to win," he added with a grin.

Well, that's one way to look at it, coach!
